The prototype, as I wore it to NZFW with my Nana's beltWe have a few projects on the go at the moment. All stemming from different inspirations. It's exciting and the workroom is a buzz with activity and creativity.
Project : 006 is the SweatShift.. not the most elegant name for a dress, but I wanted it to paint an accurate picture of what I'm creating.
The SweatShift came out of a need for two things:
1: a need for something to put on a model to shoot with Project : 005 Clutch
2: something new for me to wear out and about at NZ Fashion Week
I wanted something fresh, comfortable and a little sporty while retaining a sophisticated look that I could also wear to the office.
Fusing Grey Sweatshirting with the classic shift dress made so much sense to me, that I just ran with it and I love the outcome.
Features: a pop of hot pink as the pocket lining, flattering princess seams to create some great panels, small pleats at the waist seam to add shape to the skirt section and a length that makes sense for both work and play.
Other thoughts: Possible hot pink piping down the vertical seams. Hot pink fabric between the pocket opening and the waist seam as a more obvious pop of colour. I may give these a go once I have got the original look into production.
